My grandfather turned 93 today.

I truly believe that Pop-Pop is one of the greatest men ever to have lived.  Humble and quiet and never quick to judge, he lives in a world that is entirely his own.  After 93 years, he can hardly see or hear, but Pop-Pop can remember something that happened to him in 1933 as if it had happened this morning.  He is full of stories and history, love and patience, and could sit and talk to you all day if you wanted to.

I don’t think I’ve ever loved a man more.

I went to Philadelphia yesterday and completely fell in love with the city.

Remember that time when we wasted hours taking photos of ourselves jumping?  I miss that.  I just found these and I can’t stop chuckling.

Valentine’s Day is for friends, methinks.

This photograph is not an accurate depiction of our height difference.

I went to New York City yesterday afternoon and left this afternoon.  I love this city as much as it probably hates me back.

In September, Colleen came to visit me and we went to the first major league game I’ve been to since August 2008.  Blasphemy, I know.  The Nats were playing the Braves (our team), so naturally she had to come that particular weekend.  She stayed from Friday until Sunday and we did our normal touristy stuff.

Other September highlights:

I was already in love with you by then. (by maggiemcguire)

I love the unintentionally beautiful things I’ve come across in New York City.

Stand proud. (by maggiemcguire)

I love this photo.  I took it October 2008 during my freshman year of college.  I had just left the natural history museum downtown and I looked to my right and saw this stunning sunset.

I love this city.

Somehow, we always end up videochatting late at night.

Miss these girls.

Meredith, Cara, and me being ridiculous on our photo shoot with Hannah.

Mysterious rainbow in my bedroom.  So confused until I realized that the sun was reflecting on the box of my “Back to the Future” trilogy that was laying on the floor.  The letters are a kind of mirrored writing.

MYSTERY SOLVED [after entirely too much searching].

Also, I know I’m not the safest when it comes to wire placement, but the wire on the radiator is for a fan that is only there when the radiator isn’t on.

Milton Lake. (by maggiemcguire)

I went on a walk at around 6:15 today.  I didn’t really know where I wanted to go but I like walking around, so I just turned right when I got to the end of my front walkway and started from there.  I ended up near the border of the town at Milton Lake Park.  After about a 20 minute excursion through the “wilderness,” I walked along the river and ended up near the lake (which, to be honest, is just a really wide part of the river).  It was about 6:45 by this point and it was nearing sunset; the sun was perfectly poised in the sky and the trees were making just the right amount of shadows on the lake.  I snapped this photo with the waterfall in the background as I was sitting on the stone ledge.
