I am my grandmother.
The scene: Christmas day at home.  It’s dinnertime, and seven people are around a dining room table filled with roast beast, corn casserole, peas, mashed potatoes, rolls, etc. My Mom: How’s the food? Me: Just awful. (smile) My Grandmother (at the same time): Terrible. (chuckle) And people wonder why I’m so sarcastic all the time.

I have discovered the perfect combination of birthday gifts for my friend.  I am so thrilled.  At least my 2am internet escapades are worth something, right?

Hark how the bells...
For as long as I can remember, from the first time I heard it until this very day, the Christmas carol “Carol of the Bells” has somewhat frightened me.  It’s gotten better over the years as I’ve become used to it, but think about it.  Or, rather, listen to it.  It’s an incredibly eerie tune, with an unnecessary tension for the message it is trying to convey. ...

One Solitary Life
Dr. James Allan Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never put His foot inside a big city. He...

The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock (by Maggie McGuire) A reading of my favorite poem, “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” by T. S. Eliot. I have seen the moment of my greatness flicker, And I have seen the eternal footman hold my coat,       and snicker, And in short, I was afraid. It’s a long poem (131 lines) and so the video above is almost 8 minutes, but it’s a...
